Indiana Fever fans will have to wait a little longer to see rookie phenom Caitlin Clark back on the floor. The club confirmed on Friday that the 23-year-old guard has been ruled out of Saturday’s matchup against the Los Angeles Sparks because of a lingering left-groin injury.
Saturday’s absence will mark Clark’s fifth straight game on the sidelines. She also missed Tuesday’s Commissioner’s Cup final, a contest the Fever won despite her absence, stretching their current run of victories to three.
Head coach Stephanie White has described the injury as “day-to-day,” noting that the medical staff is taking a cautious approach after Clark’s earlier quad strain that cost her three weeks in May and early June.
Indiana enters the weekend sitting above .500 and aiming to extend its momentum against a Sparks side battling to climb the standings. While the Fever have managed a respectable record without their floor general, her playmaking and long-range threat are still sorely missed.
Through nine appearances this season, Clark is averaging 18.2 points, 8.9 assists and 5.0 rebounds, numbers that underline why she swept Rookie of the Year and All-WNBA honors as a first-year player in 2024-25. The team will hope she can return when Indiana visits the expansion Golden State Valkyries on Wednesday.
